Depression

Depression is often seen in adults and teens as a persistent feeling of sadness or inadequacy caused by chemical imbalances in the brain. Depression is not only a very serious disease, but it is also very common in American teens affecting about 20% of Teens in America and having over 3,000,000 cases diagnosed annually. While people who do not necessarily have depression may describe themselves as “depressed“, it is important to be able to different situations when someone has been faced with an unfortunate circumstance causing them to be upset or distracted rather than the neurological disease depression. Depression can also affect motivation, diet, memory, and mood. If not taken seriously or treated properly depression can grow and become less manageable over time and can even cause suicidal thoughts or actions in extreme cases.
