Substance Abuse Disorder was certified as a disease in 2013 and affects 1 in 25 teens from ages 12 - 17. As outlets for nicotine, alcohol, and other addictive substances become more accessible to students, there is a far greater opportunity to incorporate drugs into their regular schedule. As impressionable teens and adolescents become used to frequent intake of these addictive substances, they become increasingly likely to become addicted. Addiction can lead to compulsive and unpredictable behavior, lung disease, weakened immune system, seizure/stroke, or even brain damage.

Lean on your personal relationships! Surround yourself with individuals who care about your struggle and can help accompany you on your trip to recovery.

Exercise! Exercising is a great method to help your body recover and boost your self-esteem.

Eat Healthy! Eating healthy is a massive step in the right direction to recovering from substance abuse, It help to build self control as well as helping your physical body be in its best shape!
